Sensory First Nations

Need Addressed:

Indigenous communities report higher rates of developmental disabilities with lower access to supports.

Knowledge Shared:

Child Development training (led by Aquila Occupational Therapy) and Sensory Strategy training (led by Aptus) were offered in First Nations territories in partnership with Anishinabek Nation.

Impact:

Over 1200 people impacted (2017-2019).

Generously Funded by:

Ontario Trillium Foundation and Aptus donors

This project has been so well received by our communities. The most exciting part has been the response back from individual families who left the sessions excited about the new ideas and strategies to support their children.
